The third edition of the Women of Silicon Roundabout Conference will happen in the city of London in June 2018.
The conference will host keynotes, deep-dive workshops, interactive panels and technical classes delivered by tech industry leaders with the purpose of connecting, inspiring and developing the careers of women working in tech.
From humble beginnings as a single small event in 2016, Women of Silicon Roundabout has grown rapidly and has become Europe’s biggest event dedicated to gender diversity in technology.
It has also spawned the Women In Tech World Series, an international programme of events changing the game for women in the British, European, Australian, and American tech sectors.
Co-founder of Maddox Events Michaela Jeffery-Morrison says that her company is passionate about gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
“We want to have a positive impact on the tech industry, but also on society and individuals,” she said.
“Companies perform better when they have an equal and diverse workforce. Although as women we make up half the UK population, the number of women in tech is considerably lower. We should be more inclusive.”
She believes that the biggest problem in the tech industry has to do with the fact that women do not hold senior positions.
“We do not have the access to role models. And as an individual, it is also essential to have the skills and knowledge to build self development.
“Women want to know how to have more confidence to get these senior roles. That’s why career guidance and personal development topics are so popular in our events,” she said.
The conference will welcome marketers, CEOs, software engineers and new graduates. More than four thousand professional women working in the tech industry will have the chance to network and exchange professional advice.
Speakers at the event include Baroness Joanna Shields (Recent UK Minister, Internet & Former Senior Facebook and Google Executive), Martha Lane Fox (British Businesswoman, Philanthropist & Public Servant), Megan Caywood (Chief Platform Officer at Starling Bank), and Pamela Hutchinson (Head of Diversity & Inclusion EMEA at Bloomberg).
The event is due to be held at ExCel London, on the 26 and 27 of June, 2018.
